Exploring mediums of Ceramic, Illustration and Print Making.
Mengya highlights the emotional and sensory strain of holding things in- feelings, identity, and pain, that are not always visible or heard. Mixing in their culture and identity as well to create these mythical creatures, with intricate details and elements of surprise.

Mengya Zhao, a local community artist, will exhibit in the Britannia Art Gallery from October 1st to November 28th, 2025 as part of the Emma Award. She works in disciplines of ceramics, illustration and printmaking. This air dry clay workshop will use similar processes as she uses when working with ceramics, and include the inspiration of mythical creatures and how we all have limitations and different abilities. You will then take it home at the end of the workshop with tips on how to dry, and paint it yourself.
