Artist Statement
Stars Shimmering in the Dark, is an art show inspired by the national month of hope, representing twenty different artists from Alternatives Creations Studio. Alternatives works with the unique perspectives of artists with differing developmental disabilities, showcasing their individual creative strengths and interests. Over the last few months, the artists have created pieces conceptually influenced by hope; what is means to them, what they hope for and essentially what makes them happy. Some of the artists were inspired by nature to help explain hope, from cold dark winters to the brighter days of spring.  The unassuming subject matter and colourful imagery seeks to evoke positive feelings and to draw attention to the changing of the seasons.
